The Sterling Loons formed in late 2002 to work on what was originally planned to be a solo project from singer/guitarist Eamon Nordquist but quickly evolved into a new band. The resulting debut album "What to do in Trouble" showcases their style of hard rocking psychedelic pop. You can hear echoes of the Kinks, the Beatles, and the Who in the songwriting and the guitars are reminiscent of Television, the Byrds, and Hendrix. There is also a strong lyrical and melodic element, supported by all three members singing. Eamon Nordquist can also be heard playing guest guitar and backing vocals on several records by Seattle's legendary Truly (see www.robertrothmusic.com). Drummer Jeff Brown can be heard playing bass and singing backing vocals on records by the stellar Seattle group Downpilot (www.downpilot.com). Jeff can also be heard on drums and backing vocals in another fine trio, Milk Maidens Crawl (myspace.com/milkmaidenscrawl) John Kornstein was seen in recent years playing lead guitar for the acclaimed Seattle production of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and also played in it's Nick Garrison led spin-off band Sissyfist. Recordings for another Loons album are currently in progress, and hopefully will be wrapping up by April 2008. |
